The Erie County Public Library is excited to announce the launch of a triennial journal of the best poetry from Erie County. We are not looking for any particular theme or subject matter and hope to publish a diverse array of poetry. In an effort to preserve and share the artistic vision of our time with the generations to come, we are looking for local poets to submit their work!
The Erie County Poetry Anthology will be a print and online publication. The books will be a limited release and be housed in the Erie County Public Library Heritage collection, as well as in our circulating collection. The ECPA will also be available online at the library’s BiblioBoard where library patrons will have free access.
Each poet may submit two to four poems in a single .PDF document using the submission form on BiblioBoard. Final judgments on submitted poetry will occur two to four weeks after the final submission date on August 15th.
Submissions will be critiqued by the Poetry Committee’s nominated judge, Ebony Payne-English, to select which poems will represent the best of Erie County’s poetic talent. Ebony Payne-English is an accomplished author, playwright, performer and decorated poet. She serves as executive director of The Performers Academy, is a founding member of Southern Fried Poetry, Inc.’s board of directors, and has been featured nationally for her various works. Find out more on her website.
The author retains all rights to their work but acknowledges that the Erie County Public Library will host their poems online and may use them for marketing. By submitting work to the ECPL the author/creator grants to ECPL the right to publish the work in print or digital form, to disseminate the work as it deems appropriate, to archive the work, and to use all or parts of it in its marketing materials.
